Whether we like it or not, life takes many unforeseen twists and turns, most of which we cannot plan for. Looking back on my hopes and dreams growing up on a farm on the Isle of Wight, there’s no way I could have imagined the highs (and lows) that lay ahead.
The chapters of our life come thick and fast. Mine took its own meandering route through the fast paced life of television production, retraining as a complementary therapist, the Seville years feeding my soul with Spanish culture and perhaps the most unexpected of all, becoming an expert in medical cannabis leading to the publication of a book.
It was when I listened to the callings of my soul that I felt most fulfilled. In contrast, when I tried to fit in with what I thought I should be doing, I was miserable. In effect I was trying to be someone other than who I truly was.
And who I am, who all of us are, I believe, is something far greater than the limited stories we tell ourselves. Even in our lowest moments of despair, this spark of our true essence remains alight, calling us forward towards our birthright of wholeness.
This is how I came to Psychosynthesis, a psychospiritual approach to counselling and psychotherapy, which includes both our nature as spiritual beings, and the challenges we all face as human beings on this tiny planet spinning in space.
Looking back, I wish I’d encountered Psychosynthesis earlier. Now, thanks to my training as a Counsellor with the Institute of Psychosynthesis in London, I am able to offer the same compassionate guiding light to other fellow travellers on the sometimes challenging, yet often beautiful journey of life.
